FAQs
Find answers to the most common questions about our lifts and services.
General Information
We specialise in low to medium rise lifts for up to four floors, distributing various globally recognised brands.
The lifts you'll most likely recognise from movies, those suspended from above with cables, are called traction lifts, but ours work slightly different. We offer hydraulic lifts which use fluid pressure to move the car, and electric lifts driving on a screw mechanism.
Our lifts are designed for low to medium rise applications, meaning we can handle total travels of up to 12 metres which is typically about 4 floors.
Yes, many of the lifts we distribute are specifically designed for installation with minimal pit requirements. So you can benefit from reducing building complexity and of course, cost.
Suitability & Planning
Yes, installing a lift in an existing home is often very achievable. We offer various lift models suited for retrofitting and even supply lifts with their own supporting structure, avoiding the need for expensive structural alterations to your home.
Our lifts are design registered against Australian standards, which means in most cases the alterations we need to make to them to fit your space mean our registration covers any permissions you'll need. Where site specific engineering is required, we serve as that central link between local engineers, your builders, and our suppliers' in-house engineering teams to dot the i's and cross the t's that you need.
Space requirements vary significantly depending on the type and model of the lift. Some lifts require very little footprint, while others may need more space for the shaft and machinery. You can see the standard footprints required for our residential lifts on our Lifts for Homes page.
The ideal location depends on your property's layout, your needs, and the lift type. Common locations include hallways, stairwells, or even mounted externally to your home.
Options & Cost
The cost is influenced by the type of lift, the number of floors served (up to 4), the complexity of the installation, customisation options, and site-specific requirements.
We offer a range of customisation options to help your lift blend seamlessly with your property's aesthetics, including different cabin finishes, flooring, lighting, and control panels.
There are a lot of factors that influence the cost of a lift, which is typically split by the product itself and then the installation. Some product factors to consider are the number of floors, the size of the interior cabin (consider whether it needs to accommodate mobility equipment), and the interior finish. Meanwhile, some installation factors to consider are the type of lift, complexity and location of the installation, and the need for any structural alterations. We can help you navigate these factors to find the best solution for your needs.
Ordering & Installation
The typical timeframe from placing an order to completing installation varies, usually ranging from eight weeks to a few months, depending on the lift type, customisation, and site readiness.
Preparation typically involves ensuring clear access to the installation area, confirming power supply availability, and sometimes minor structural modifications depending on the lift type. Don't worry! Our team works this out for you through multiple site visits leading up to your installation date, liasing with builder throughout the life of your project, and communicating your specific requirements to our curated range of manufacturers.
Generally, yes. Due to the complexity of each installation, we don't offer the supply of lifts without installation.
Your lift components are carefully packaged and transported via freight to your property. We coordinate delivery to ensure a smooth process. Some lifts are delivered in bits and we assemble them within the structural shaft on site, and others are delivered fully assembled in their self supporting structure, and we can have them up and running in as little as two days.
We conduct a detailed site survey at your property in Melbourne to accurately measure the available space and recommend the most suitable lift size and dimensions based on your requirements and Australian standards.
Service & Maintenance
Yes, all new lifts purchased through us come with a manufacturer's warranty, the duration of which varies depending on the brand and model.
We generally recommend servicing your lift at least every 12 months, depending on usage and type, to ensure optimal performance and safety. We can provide you with a tailored maintenance package at the time of installation, which can save you money over the lifetime of your lift by avoiding replacing prematurely worn parts.
Ongoing costs primarily involve scheduled maintenance visits, which are typically covered by a maintenance package or paid per visit. Our strong warranty and service agreements ensure you are only paying for what you need.
